Bathroom remodeling with the pros at Johnson & Sons Flooring
We spend a lot of time in a bathroom, and it is much more agreeable if the space is functional and pleasant, if it's not, a bathroom remodeling can put it right. If you have the budget to brighten up your bathroom, but not enough to replace all the fixtures, no worries. We're going to tell you a secret here: if you are changing the countertops in your kitchen, have a look at your bathroom vanity's counter and see if it would benefit from changing. Chances are if you are having granite installed in your kitchen adding on a bit the size of a bathroom counter would be easy and cost-effective
Vanity tops in your bathroom remodeling
Vanity surfaces get lots of use and lots of water. A solid-type surface is easier to take care of than tile with its grout. Sanitation wins, so on a horizontal counter, we don't recommend tile. The following work well in a bathroom countertop scenario:
- Granite
- Quartz
- Marble
- Recycled glass surface
- Corian
- Formica
Floors and walls in your bathroom remodeling
Bathroom floors and walls are where tiles shine. We will be happy to show you the multitude of tiles and designs suitable for a bathroom. For the walls we recommend:
- Glass tiles
- Porcelain and ceramic tiles
- Stone tiles
All of these must be installed with a waterproof backer board and waterproof, mildew-inhibiting adhesives and grout.
For the floor we recommend:
- Porcelain and ceramic tiles that have a safety rating for good traction when they are wet
- Stone tiles, if they are treated with a slip-resistant application
- Sheet vinyl, is an excellent option for children's bathrooms, make sure that it is rated safe when wet
An unsung benefit of grout is that grout lines that are relatively close together provide traction to bare feet. If you are considering a heated floor, tiles work well with that bathroom remodeling application.
